One of the most frequently mentioned gripes with Tumblr’s audio post functionality is the lack of a continuous playlist of audio posts. Various people have attempted to hack workarounds (myself included, with limited success), but none come close to what Dan Kantor has managed.

Dan’s solution is powered by Streampad and appears as a narrow strip across the bottom of the browser window. It works well but suffers from a common problem with playlist-style players: if you navigate away from the page on which the music is playing — even to another page on the same tumblelog — the music stops and must be played again, from the start. A useful addition might be to open it in a dreaded popup window rather than playing it in-page.

Just a quick note to anyone that hasn’t noticed it yet: You can now submit your themes yourself using a nice, simple form (as opposed to enduring the arduous undertaking of opening your e-mail client, or just waiting for me to find it).

If you do submit a theme, please be sure to include a screenshot, a link to a demo site if there is one, and the creator’s URL. No need to worry about the formatting; I can take care of that, just make sure the necessaries are there. Your theme won’t appear instantly on the site, it has to be approved by me first (in case of maliciousness or duplicates), but that shouldn’t take too long.

Feel free to use that form to submit any other miscellaneous feedback or things you think I should know, too.

By the way, there are currently 79 Tumblr themes catalogued, made by 34 different people. Not bad.
